9 hari menjelang peluncuran OS dan device Blackberry 10 (BBX), RIM melakukan perubahan nama toko aplikasinya dari blackberry appworld menjadi blackberry world. Perubahan nama ini menjanjikan isi toko yang lebih beragam dengan menawarkan jenis content. yang baru seperti musik dan video. RIM mengklaim bahwa toko baru ini akan menjadi one-stop shop untuk semua kebutuhan hiburan pelanggannya.

RIM mulai melakukan perubahan toko onlinenya saat ini dan diharapkan dalam 24 jam ke depan semua akan bisa mengakses toko baru ini. update aplikasi untuk tablet blackberry playbook dan smartphone blackberry lainnya diharapkan akan tersedia minggu depan.

Biasanya kalau OS update untuk Playbook akan keluar, akan diiringi atau didahului oleh update Blackberry Bridge. Blackberry Bridge update v2.1.0.26 sekarang sudah tersedia di  BlackBerry App World

Beberapa perubahan dalam update ini adalah

• Melihat dan membalas  text messages lewat BlackBerry PlayBook
• BlackBerry Bridge bisa menggunakan Wi-Fi untuk men-transfer bridge data saat BlackBerry smartphone dan PlayBook terhubung dalam  Wi-Fi access point yang sama
• Peningkatan stabilitas dalam “pairing” dan juga “bug fixes” dalam konektivitas
• beberapa perubahan lain dalam keseluruhan  ”user experience “

Walaupun demikian update ini masih terfilter di BlackBerry App World, Jika belum melihatnya di Appworld di wilayah Anda tunggu saja dan tak lama lagi PlayBook OS 2.1 update juga akan menyusul.

Pemilik Blackberry Playbook pasti sudah tidak sabar menanti rilis terakhir OS untuk tabletnya. Sebuah bocoran dokumen terbaru mengindikasikan RIM akan merilis Blackberry Playbook OS 2.1.

Beberapa perubahan/update dari OS 2.1:
- PIM (Messages, Calendar, Contacts) bisa dilihat dalam portrait orientation
- PIM – Deep Folder Hierarchy.
- WiFi bisa digunakan untuk Bridge 2 devices jika berada dalam WiFi network yang sama
- BlackBerry Bridge mendukukng viewing SMS messages lewat PlayBook
- Print to Go akan bisa digunakan untuk network yang berbeda
- Aplikasi Android akan berjalan dalam windows terpisah bukan satu window untuk setiap aplikasi android
-Aplikasi Android bisa mengakses PlayBook -camera
- Pengguna bisa melakukan in-app payments dalam Aplikasi Android

Today is the era of Cloud storage, where we can store and back up our files on the cloud. PlayBook owners seems to be left behind where there is only limited native apps of the cloud developed for this Blackberry Tablet. However, when we look closely, we can see that it is easy and powerful to manage all our cloud storage needs right from the PlayBook.

The Playbook  can easily access any cloud storage even without native apps. I always use drop box for my main cloud storage. unfortunately until now there is no native apps from dropbox for Playbook. Luckily, BlueBox app and the Files and Folders app did a very good job and offered a wide array of choices for document management, downloading and uploading. The Files and Folders app also did a great job with Google Drive and Box.

Box supports the PlayBook with a native app. The app works great and the storage options are fine for their free account , however  the limitation on the size of file uploads and downloads sometimes creating a problem. Microsoft SkyDrive offers bigger free storage compared to dropbox unfortunately they don’t have native app and no third party app until now can handle it. but you can still use the native browser in your Playbook to to access your files and read and download them from the PlayBook.

As Playbook users awaiting for OS 2.1 update, RIM come up with a surprising news of launching Playbook 4G LTE and and update to Playbook OS to 2.0.1.668. Small text in the update announcement mentioned about to address email enhancements, contacts, calendar and bridge improvements.

Some  improvement also experienced in:

• Improved Wifi Connections
• Apps appear to be loading faster
• Browser loads and moves around faster

the size of the update also quite big around 313 MB.
